“Everyone’s project, everyone quality, everyone’s cost” is one of the important management concepts for FHS Group to successfully promote various projects. There is a contradictory, unified, and interdependent relationship between project, quality, and cost. As the main department promoting the implementation of “everyone quality”, the Quality Center shoulders unprecedented responsibilities.
Adhering to the management philosophy of “everyone quality,” starting from 2021, the Quality Center began using the BI (Business Intelligence Navigation developed by FHS) system to collect quality cost data from various departments. Regular quality weekly meetings were held every two weeks, during which each department reported independently, and in-depth discussions, analysis, and improvements were conducted on the cost losses of each week and month. Through the form of quality weekly meetings, quality and cost are beginning to be valued in the form of data, which also heralds the arrival of the FHS “era of everyone quality.”
How to understand “Everyone Quality”?
Let’s first understand what quality is? The ISO (International Organization for Standardization) defines quality as the sum of characteristics that reflect an entity’s ability to meet explicit or implicit needs. For FHS, our understanding of quality is that the non-standard automation equipment we design, and produce can meet the requirements of customer technical agreements, including explicit and implicit requirements. It must also comply with legal regulations, industry rules, and other requirements to ensure customer satisfaction.
What is quality management? The ISO International Organization for Standardization defines quality management as the coordinated activity of directing and controlling an organization in terms of quality. For FHS, quality management is about focusing on quality from the source of design. From the inspection of incoming materials to the production and assembly process, and then to the quality of debugging, quality management runs through the entire process from design to after-sales service. This process requires mobilizing all employees to participate and focusing on customers through a series of management activities. The management concept of “everyone quality” is a reflection of FHS quality management activities and also reflects the principle of “all staff participation” in the seven quality management principles of the ISO9001 quality management system.
Why promote “everyone quality”
The concept of “everyone quality” was introduced at FHS around 2018, when we were collaborating with several global clients. And now the project delivery requirements have taken several steps higher than before. Throughout the entire development and acceptance process of the production line, we encountered difficulties such as short lead times, heavy tasks, and high after-sales costs. From feeling the stones and crossing the river to paying tuition fees, we have summarized our experiences and lessons, and deeply realized that the imperfect quality management will directly affect the success or failure of projects. We have also realized the importance and necessity of promoting the “everyone quality” management concept.
If quality issues occur frequently, it will lead to a continuous increase in project costs. From the interpretation, design, processing, inspection, assembly, debugging, and acceptance of customer specifications, if the process and quality are ignored, various problems will arise. A series of problems, including design, procurement, processing, inspection, assembly, debugging, and after-sales, ultimately boil down to quality issues. As long as quality issues occur, there will be certain losses in labor costs, material costs, and time costs. The ultimate solution to the problem requires the cooperation of personnel from all departments to work together to solve it. The process of jointly solving problems will also reflect the role and value of “everyone quality”.
What does “everyone quality” need to be done?
FHS non-standard equipment is basically standardized from the scheme and design stages, and the process quality is achieved through procurement, inspection, assembly, debugging, packaging, and transportation. Each link needs to control its own quality to ensure the smooth delivery of the project. A project is achieved through the joint participation of various departments, and is completed by each employee within each department. The final quality is reflected in the job responsibilities, abilities, and performance of each employee. Fully controlling the quality of equipment requires the hard work and dedication of every employee. We believe that in order to control quality well, it is most important to ensure that the management philosophy of “everyone quality” can deeply penetrate into the hearts of every employee.
We suggest promoting from the following points:
Quality awareness All employees need to realize that quality is the lifeblood of a company. The quality of the equipment, whether it has customers or markets, determines the source of profit for the enterprise, the long-term development of the enterprise, and also determines the personal interests and career development of employees. Only through the quality of products can we win the trust of customers, create a better corporate reputation, and establish the brand image of FHS.
Quality prevention Focusing on the customer, thoroughly and comprehensively interpreting the specific requirements of the customer, identifying both explicit and implicit requirements, and standing from the customer’s perspective to think, solve, and handle problems. When encountering problems or doubts, timely communication with the customer is maintained to reach consensus. Establish a preventive awareness of quality, starting from the design phase, getting things right the first time and preventing from the source, will make it easier to control the quality of equipment during the process.
Quality specifications Quality management needs to follow the workflow in order to have a systematic approach. Only in this way can the work between each department, process, and procedure in the entire company be carried out in an orderly and efficient manner. If work is not carried out in accordance with procedural standards, the chances of errors will increase, and the quality of equipment cannot be guaranteed.
Quality improvement Establish a continuous improvement awareness of “everyone quality”. There is no best quality, only better. Quality improvement is a continuous and continuously improving process that should follow the PDCA model and form a closed-loop control. Only in this way can our equipment quality continue to improve, and only through continuous improvement and innovation can we continuously enhance the comprehensive competitiveness of our company’s brand.
Quality cost awareness Establish cost awareness of quality. Ensuring equipment quality and pursuing profits are the eternal goals of enterprises. For enterprises to develop, they must pay attention to production costs, but cost and quality are closely related. If the quality is well managed, the cost of the product can be minimized. However, if the product quality is poor and customers frequently complain and require repairs, the cost will increase. Excessively improving product quality can lead to over-quality, which also increases production costs. Therefore, stricter quality does not always benefit the enterprise. Hence, during production, we require each process and link to be strictly carried out according to customer standards, so that we can minimize costs and improve market competitiveness. In summary, the implementation and implementation of the “everyone quality” management concept cannot be separated from the hard work and dedication of each employee. In summary, the implementation of the “everyone quality” management concept relies on the hard work and dedication of every employee.
Stage achievements of “everyone quality”
Since the management concept of “everyone project, everyone quality, everyone cost”, remarkable achievements have been made:
Continuous promotion of quality weekly meetings Since its implementation, the quality weekly meeting has always been held on time and on time. We have not relaxed our efforts in the fight against the epidemic from home. During the period of working from home during the epidemic, the quality weekly meeting was held as scheduled through online meetings, and the results of the meetings were stable. In March of this year, we also redefined the quality objectives based on the quality reports of various departments, which greatly improved the quality of the meetings. These all stem from the importance placed on quality by everyone and the implementation of the FHS “everyone quality” management concept.
Quality management system process sorting Led by project management and coordinated by the quality center, we have continuously upgraded and improved the quality management system processes in the “Project Management Procedure”. The program file takes the project as the main line and clearly defines project initiation, scheme handover, design initiation, assembly initiation Record the actions and outputs of each department during each stage of FAT pre-acceptance and SAT final acceptance. Under strict implementation, the improvement effect of quality processes was particularly significant.
Implementation of total quality management Under the self-promotion of the management requirement of “everyone quality”, the scope of work of the Quality Center has been continuously extended and the focus has increased. It not only participated in the interpretation and review of the Spec in the scheme stage of new projects, but also prevented parallel implementation of client OPL, and opened CAR for major problem points. The review meeting for repeated appearance inspection before shipment and the review meeting for packaging and transportation methods in the export project of a certain flipping packaging line all reflected the importance that each department attached to quality. During this year’s epidemic, the work of the Quality Center has also been steadily carried out. Taking advantage of the scarce working hours from home, we have revised and improved packaging and transportation standards, collected CE information, and organized online quality training.
By listing the above representative cases, it is enough to demonstrate that we have been working hard on the implementation of the “everyone quality” management concept, and in the process of doing so, we have driven the enthusiasm and enthusiasm of all employees, unified their thinking, unified their pace, and played their maximum value in achieving the same project goal.
Summary
Everyone quality” is the goal and state of quality management, and it is also the corporate culture that FHS has been promoting since the top management. Within the company, we can fully feel that everyone’s concept and awareness of respecting quality are constantly improving. At the same time, I believe that the company can continue to develop and grow with the help of the industry trend. Through the implementation of the management concept of “everyone project, everyone quality, everyone cost”, it gradually becomes a benchmark for enterprise quality management in non-standard industries. Every FHS person can know that the quality of FHS is designed, produced, inspected, planned, managed, and evaluated by customers. At the same time, it also ensures that every FHS employee understands that FHS quality management is the responsibility of everyone. Everyone needs to care about quality, value quality, and create quality. Ultimately, everyone can enjoy quality and the benefits it brings to the company.
Recently, with the rapid increase of confirmed cases worldwide, many countries have once again raised their level of prevention and control response, and the epidemic situation has once again become severe.
At FHS, alongside the call for epidemic prevention, the assembly call for the LCU production line project destined for Lithuania was also sounded. As one of FHS’s crucial overseas projects, especially under the dual pressure and impact of the international situation and the pandemic, the success of the LCU project would become an outstanding example of the company’s capability to handle extremely complex situations successfully. For this reason, all members of the Lithuanian LCU project have been fully focused. Adhering to the work philosophy of “everyone’s project” and practicing the corporate values of “customer orientation and continuous struggle,” we are determined to expand FHS’s international footprint. We spare no effort, face difficulties head-on, and move forward courageously, striving to maintain the consistent high-quality performance of FHS’s overseas projects.
The first obstacle: Difficulty in shipping
Thanks to the successful experience of the domestic production line of this project, the assembly, debugging, and operation of the overseas production line performed exceptionally well.
After the successful acceptance of the equipment, the Lithuanian LCU project, initially thought to be well-positioned, encountered its first major obstacle due to the political relationship between China and Lithuania—shipping difficulties.
Starting from November last year, the conflict between China and Lithuania intensified, and the diplomatic relations between the two countries were directly downgraded to the level of agency. The level of bilateral trade risk increased. “Our customs clearance usually involved railway transportation. “We have consulted almost all large logistics agents, but when they heard that our trading country is Lithuania, they refused us,” said the customs clearance manager Min Jie helplessly. After finally finding a trustworthy logistics agency, I thought I was one step closer to success. Who knows, what we feared came true. It seems to confirm the previous customs declaration concerns, as one of the containers underwent an unprecedented unpacking and full inspection at customs. “At that time, it was indeed very difficult, and this situation was really rare. ‘ “The belief in customer-oriented values was the only light that kept us going.” Then, all the responsible persons for the project’s customs declaration materials worked overtime, addressing all the inspection issues one by one. Finally, after nearly a month, they passed the customs inspection. At present, the container was on its way to Lithuania.
The second obstacle: Difficulty in obtaining a visa
Solved the shipping issue but got stuck in the second checkpoint while processing the project team’s overseas procedures.
To go overseas, of course, the first step is to have a passport. In response to the epidemic prevention and control call of “preventing internal rebound and external importation,” the China Entry Exit Administration Center has issued a “non-essential, non-urgent, non-processing” passport policy, suspending all personal passport services. The company coordinated and resolved the employee’s passport issue as soon as possible, after close communication with the immigration department and providing a series of supporting documents.
However, a passport was only a prerequisite. After the diplomatic relations between the two countries were directly downgraded to the level of agency, the Lithuanian Embassy in China was closed, and Lithuanian visas became “inaccessible”. Adhering to the corporate values of “customer-oriented, pioneering and innovative” has not stumped FHS people. As long as the mind does not slide, there are always more solutions than difficulties. After multiple interventions and more than a month of channel exploration and information retrieval, we finally learned about the representative country for visa processing in Lithuania through other channels. At this point, visa processing has entered the right track. “Like logistics agencies, we also faced the ‘impossibility’ of all visa companies, but in the end, we did it” . said project PM Gao Ning.
Every obstacle is difficult to pass, but it will always be overcome one by one.
A successful project cannot be achieved without the strong support of all project members. In the face of political issues mixed with the adverse situation of the epidemic, the 7 members of the Lithuanian project team, who persevered through these challenges, are particularly valuable.
On March 12th, electrical engineers Yang Peng and Liu Qing, robot debugging engineer Kang Zhichao, mechanical assembly engineers Mao Debao and He Bing, and electrical assembly engineers Zhai Liantao and Wang Junfeng, resolutely embarked on the journey to Lithuania.
Mao Debao, the Mechanical Assembly Engineer at the Production Center, was the first to sign up for this project. He recalled saying, “After receiving the registration notice, I hesitated a lot. Once out of home country, everything was unpredictable. Were there sufficient medical supplies abroad? Were epidemic prevention and control measures in place? Were foreigners friendly to Chinese people? These questions are hard for us to imagine. But when I thought about the company’s needs, I didn’t have time to think twice and go! And I also took my good friends He Bing, Zhai Liantao, and Wang Junfeng with me!”
The first meal of the team to Lithuania
Electrical engineers and robot debugging engineers can be called the “giant pandas” of all projects. With the addition of Yang Peng, Liu Qing, and Kang Zhichao, they have also given this team a shot in the arm. “At that time, my thoughts were relatively simple. A bachelor like me didn’t have a wife to worry about. I only had my parents, but they have always been very supportive of my work. I also wanted to use this opportunity to contribute to this project and FHS’s overseas territory,” Yang Peng said with a smile.
With complete preparation, our project partners arrived in Lithuania smoothly. At present, the project team has officially entered a combat state and work is being carried out intensively. Not long after, the second batch of project personnel would also rush to the site in Lithuania.
Write at the end
There is no innate fearlessness, only wholehearted courage. In the chaotic and complex situation, there are not only FHS revolutionaries fighting overseas, but also FHS warriors who remain fearless and fearless domestically. They have actively responded to the company’s call, dedicating themselves with high fighting spirit and full passion to the cause we are striving for together. Every FHS person who bravely advances for a project is worth learning from for all of us at FHS.
I believe that with our joint efforts, FHS will eventually live up to expectations and achieve its listing goals as soon as possible, becoming a prestigious global smart manufacturing enterprise!
Riding on horseback, crossing over into dreams, Crossing thousands of rivers and mountains, returning home for love.
Spring Festival, It was supposed to be a moment of reunion under the lights of countless homes. But in FHS, There was such a group of people,
They uphold the work philosophy of “everyone project”, Practice the corporate values of “customer-oriented, continuous striving”, the corporate vision of “becoming a prestigious global smart manufacturing enterprise in their hearts, To ensure the normal operation of the project, Resolutely giving up on reuniting with family, Take the responsibility and mission on your shoulders, Transforming into a sense of responsibility and perseverance towards the position.
Now, Let’s leave the camera for these The most lovable person:
PM Department Manager Song Aitao
Song Aitao was the PM manager for this year’s NDSD Spring Festival stay project, responsible for coordinating the operation of the entire project, allocating project resources, following up on project plans, and ensuring the achievement of project goals.
The team led by Song Aitao is burdened with three major challenges: high production pressure, high attention, and strict inspections. During the Spring Festival, the most important work goal of the project team was to overcome a series of backlog problems that are usually not urgent and need to be addressed. Thanks to the infiltration of the work culture of “everyone project”, Song Aitao usually required the on-site project team to develop good habits of problem sorting and collection, practice “child skills” well, and be more proficient in actual work. The improvement work of the entire project was well organized.
“If we have to say what the biggest obstacle was during the Spring Festival, it should be that the cafeteria is closed, causing us to only eat instant noodles.” A light sentence conveys the perseverance of the FHS project personnel, as if nothing can easily defeat them.
At the end of the interview, Song Aitao said, “This is already the third year I haven’t spent the Chinese New Year at home. I am grateful for the support and understanding of my family, but I deeply understand that only ‘with everyone in the company’ can there be a ‘small family’. In the new year, let’s strive together to become a prestigious global smart manufacturing enterprise! 2022, come on!
Supervisor of Electrical Software Center, Yuan Dongliang
In the NDSD project, Yuan Dongliang was one of the main responsible persons for electrical software, leading the improvement of the electrical direction of the project and ensuring the smooth operation of the line.
“When I received the offer, I was ready to fight for the project. On my first day of employment, I went on a business trip to the project site to participate in the work, and all the onboarding training work was completed at the project site.” Speaking of my connection with FHS, Yuan Dongliang said.
In the eyes of leaders and colleagues, Yuan Dongliang has excellent skills and is hardworking. After receiving the project demand for staying on site during the Spring Festival, Yuan Dongliang actively responded and set an example by actively registering to stay on the project site, playing a good leading role for the electrical team. During the Spring Festival, he led the day shift electrical team to cooperate in handling backlog issues and collaborate with colleagues in the production department to solve each problem one by one. “Although it is the Spring Festival holiday, everyone’s state has not relaxed as a result. Even with less than 40% of employees on duty, we can still maintain the stability of the production line to the maximum extent, keeping the workshop production capacity at around 70% of normal levels.”
Finally, Yuan Dongliang said: In the past few months at the project site, I have deeply understood the significance of the team, and I was proud of our team. Please rest assured, no matter the time, we are always present at the project site!
Production Center, Huang Jiajun
The customer site, production center, and electrical software work were closely related. Huang Jiajun was responsible for the maintenance of institutions in the NDSD project. During the Spring Festival, in order to cooperate with the project’s production capacity sprint, he has resolutely chosen to stay at the customer site.
As most of the on-site employees of the client have returned to their hometowns for the Chinese New Year, Huang Jiajun’s workload has doubled. Staying up all night to troubleshoot a malfunction was a common occurrence. He smiled and said to us, “During that time, we would also bring walkie talkies when eating and going to the bathroom, so as not to be unable to contact us when there were any problems on-site.” This small gesture reflected the FHS’s values of “customer orientation and continuous struggle”.
When asked if Huang Jiajun had any regrets for not returning home during the Spring Festival, he said, “I cherished this opportunity given by the company very much, and my family was also very supportive of me. Please rest assured, Mom and Dad, I’m doing well here! “
Czech Project Team
Left: Huang Jianqiang Center: Yuan Guobing Right: Li Wei
“Foreign clients don’t take a break during the Spring Festival, so we don’t either. We accommodate our clients’ needs.” Another team that provided full-service support during the Spring Festival was the Czech project team, one of our overseas projects.
In November 2021, Yuan Guobing, Li Wei, and Huang Jianqiang, as the main design, electrical, and assembly leaders of the project, rushed to the Czech project site at the forefront.
“This project is like my child. My team and I have shaped it bit by bit until it runs smoothly. No one understands it better than I do”. When I received the notice of the assignment application, my sense of responsibility told me: I must go.” Yuan Guobing, the Mechanical Design Manager of this project, described the mood at the time.
As soon as they arrived at the client’s site, the project team began to work tirelessly. Yuan Guobing was not only responsible for the installation and debugging of some functions on the production line, as well as the verification and development of processes, but also played the role of half a PM, constantly tracking and controlling the rhythm and status of production. Huang Jianqiang, as the Head of the Production Department, fully cooperated with the operation of the production line, actively investigated problems that arise during the production process, and often worked tirelessly for half a month. Huang Jianqiang said, “The pressure has always been quite high. Due to language barriers, it took longer to connect with the site, and coupled with the complexity of project work, it was an unprecedented test for us. The team worked together and dared not slack off at all. Li Wei, the software manager, candidly said, “During the days on the project site, there were hardships and tears. Every time I couldn’t hold on, I would think of the company’s corporate values of ‘customer orientation and continuous struggle’. Let me lead the electrical team to break through their limits time and time again.” Over the past few months, the project team has received unanimous praise from the customer site for their positive and cooperative work attitude, timely and efficient response speed, and exquisite and stable industry technology. I believe that soon, the ‘Czech Team’ will return victorious.
At present, more members of the company have arrived at various overseas bases to start working. Their professionalism and sense of responsibility would further motivate us to serve every project of our customers well.
