FHS Group recently received an official letter of commendation from Xuzhou XCMG New Energy Power Technology Co., Ltd. (XCMG Power), congratulating the successful completion and start-up of Line 1 of its CTP 4.0 high-speed production line, which has now entered trial production.

The line is the world’s first mass-production line capable of producing both blade and prismatic cells on the same line.

Building on years of expertise and technology development in flexible lithium-ion battery manufacturing, FHS Group successfully applied its integrated mixed-production solution for cells of different form factors in a real-world mass-production project for a leading automotive manufacturer. The project has resulted in a mature, scalable solution that can be replicated across the industry and has earned strong recognition from the customer.

A Demanding Project, Endorsed by a Leading Customer

XCMG Power has a strong presence in the new energy sector and applies exceptionally high standards to battery production lines in terms of equipment accuracy, line compatibility, production stability and delivery schedules. It is widely regarded as a benchmark customer for quality management in China’s automotive battery industry.

During the project, XCMG Power introduced customized technical requirements based on its “large blade cell” product plan, increasing both the technical complexity and schedule pressure.

In response, the FHS project team quickly mobilized resources and optimized the production and implementation plan using its proven platform-based technical architecture. The team ultimately achieved two key milestones:

1)From in-house assembly to shipment of the finished equipment: 20 days.

2)From on-site installation and commissioning to the successful rollout of the first battery pack: 30 days.

At the project review, recognition and preferred-partner award ceremony, Ms. Zong Xuemei, Deputy General Manager of XCMG Power, spoke highly of FHS Group:

“The Outstanding Partner award presented to FHS Group represents our full recognition of the achievements of this mixed-production project for blade and prismatic cells. This flexible production line has pushed beyond existing technical boundaries in the industry. The FHS team demonstrated outstanding execution, and all performance indicators for the complete line met the required standards. Its overall capabilities are highly reliable. We look forward to deeper collaboration and continued innovation as we further improve flexible and intelligent production solutions together.”

Core Technology Enables a World-First Mixed-Production Breakthrough

The key innovation of the project is FHS Group’s compatibility technology for cells of different specifications and form factors. It helped the customer overcome a long-standing industry challenge and establish the world’s first flexible mass-production line capable of producing both blade and prismatic cells, marking a major advance in next-generation intelligent battery manufacturing.

1. Proprietary System Architecture for Flexible Multi-Format Production

Conventional power-battery production lines are generally dedicated to a single cell type. Because blade and prismatic cells differ significantly in shape and internal structure, producing them on the same line has long been difficult. Customers have therefore had to invest in two separate lines, while model changeovers remained complex and costly.

FHS Group developed a modular, integrated line system covering mechanical design, positioning and adaptation, and coordinated process control. Equipped with an intelligent magnetic-levitation transport system, the line supports rapid changeovers between cells of different specifications. It enables one line to produce two mainstream cell formats, reducing investment and operating costs while supporting automakers’ long-term multi-product strategies.

2. Proven Technology for Customized Upgrades

Anticipating the industry’s shift toward flexible production, FHS Group invested early in compatibility technologies for cells of different specifications and form factors. When the customer requested design upgrades, the team rapidly refined and implemented the solution, turning its long-term technology development into efficient project delivery. Its integrated capabilities in R&D, process engineering, simulation and testing enable FHS to respond quickly to non-standard requirements, optimize equipment for specific applications and complete full-process commissioning and validation efficiently.

3.Standardized Technology for Faster Delivery

The 20-day shipment milestone and the rollout of the first battery pack within 30 days demonstrate the maturity of the solution. The equipment was highly prefabricated and standardized, supported by proven digital simulation and virtual commissioning technologies. Comprehensive pre-assembly and testing were completed in-house, allowing the on-site engineering team to carry out individual-machine commissioning and full-line integration efficiently. Drawing on extensive battery-line project experience, the technical team also developed practical solutions to changing site conditions, keeping the project on schedule while maintaining mass-production quality.

Integrated Teams Build a Strong Foundation for Long-Term Technology Leadership

Behind this benchmark achievement is FHS Group’s complete technology and delivery system, supported by close collaboration across all project teams. Throughout the project lifecycle, R&D, process engineering, manufacturing and on-site management worked together efficiently:

1)The R&D team responded quickly to customized technical requirements.

2)The manufacturing team ensured the timely production and delivery of equipment.

3)The on-site engineering team supported equipment installation and full-line commissioning, coordinated resources and closely tracked key project milestones, always focusing on the customer’s mass-production objectives.

A strong talent pipeline, standardized project processes and an integrated R&D, manufacturing and service model provide the foundation for FHS Group to deliver advanced technologies and benchmark projects consistently.

Deepening Long-Term Cooperation and Setting a New Industry Benchmark

The successful start-up and trial production of the line mark a new beginning for the strategic partnership between the two companies. FHS Group will continue to provide high-standard technical support, closely monitor line performance, help ensure stable long-term operation and fully support the customer’s capacity ramp-up and production planning.

Looking ahead, FHS Group will use this world-first mixed-production line for blade and prismatic cells as a benchmark for future projects and continue to advance the core technologies of intelligent battery manufacturing. Building on the flexible mixed-production technologies developed through this project, FHS will strengthen its position in the domestic market, expand steadily into global markets and further refine integrated solutions for international customers. By bringing proven battery-manufacturing technologies and automation solutions to overseas markets, FHS Group will work with partners worldwide to support the high-quality development of the new energy equipment industry.
